Want to update your room but don’t have the time? Would you like some budget friendly ideas to add colour or refresh your living space? If yes, welcome to the wonderful world of the ‘mini makeover’.
Weekend interior updates to overhaul your living space and transform your room…
add a wall of style!
Forget the feature walls of yonder with their questionable wallpaper choices and garish hues…feature walls circa 2022 are all about texture. Calming wood panels are having a moment. Teak slated wood panels or Scandi blonde floorboard style cladding are stylish ways to change the architectural aesthetic of a room. It’s also really inexpensive and easy to achieve. See Wood Veneer Hub for some great acoustic wood slated panels.
Or there are some gorgeous textured wallpapers out there. See Omexco
makeover the fifth wall!
Have a go at painting your ceiling…. If you have a chilly north facing aspect, taking the shade up above will help increase the cocooning warmth of a room. For more brightly lit rooms, you could get away with bolder / darker colour choices.
paint the floorboards!
If you are lucky enough to have original floorboards then make them a real feature by giving them a lick of paint. Classic white floorboards never date and can really brighten a darker room. Dark grey can add drama and won’t overwhelm either.
accent colour blast!
An easy way to add a few pops of colour or pattern is to go crazy with accessories. Adding scatter cushions, throws or even updating your blinds or curtains can refresh a space and add a lift to a tied interior. If your room doesn’t feel unified, pick a colour from the walls or a rug and match it to the cushions or window treatment and everything will come together!
