Want to create that relaxed beachy holiday feeling at home? Here’s how…!
love & light
Allowing plenty of natural light and sunshine into your home is vital to recreate that holiday feeling! Mirrors are a great way to bounce natural light and create a feeling of breezy sunshine days.
warm up your home!
Warm tones and natural materials simulate feelings of the Mediterranean, particularly when combined with breezy semi-sheer voiles or curtains. Applying paint with an uneven brush gives a more natural laid back look reminiscent of those little sun-kissed villages on the Med.
keep it natural
Adding natural plant fibres is a great way to invite warmth into your home! Think cool rattan shades, rustic jute woven rugs, bamboo furniture…perfect for conjuring up that feeling of heady summer climes!
all the feelz…
Think of textures and how your environment feels to touch… rough earthenware sculptures, smooth polished plaster, the jagged heat-baked texture of terracotta in the sun, the softness of laundered linen …. So simple to add some of these sunshine textures into your home.
tropical scents..
To me that summer feeling is more that just the visual …. Its a multi-sensory experience. Therefore I find scent is really important to evoke feelings of lazy summer holidays. Aromas of jasmine, coconut & bergamot always do it for me… although there’s something about that dreamy fragrance of suncream on beach-kissed skin which instantly takes me back to the beach!
Clarins, Estee Lauder and even Nivea have all bought out fragrances emulating their suncare products… spray liberally for ultimate summer feelz. Alternatively, the White Company ‘Mauritius’ reed diffuser is fabulous.
botanically gorgeous
Houseplants are an excellent way to bring a touch of tropics home. A potted palm or a dreamy exotic bamboo are both great choices.
