Elixir Interior Design creates thoughtful, characterful interiors for homes and hospitality spaces across Brighton & Hove and Central London.
Founded in 2012 by Creative Director Melanie Barnes, a BIID Registered Interior Designer®️, Elixir brings more than 14 years of experience to residential and commercial interior design.
I have a particular passion for period properties, including listed buildings, and believe the most successful interiors respect the architecture and history of a building while allowing it to evolve. My approach combines original character with contemporary colour, materials, lighting and bespoke detail to create spaces that feel individual, considered and relevant to the way they are used today.
My work ranges from individual rooms and complete homes to larger commercial and hospitality projects, including the four-year transformation of 29 Regency Square, a Grade II* listed Regency townhouse on Brighton’s seafront, into ten individually designed luxury holiday suites.
Elixir’s residential interiors have been featured in 25 Beautiful Homes, with two separate projects selected for the magazine, while 29 Regency Square has been featured in Condé Nast Traveller, Forbes, The Times and HELLO!
Whatever the scale of the project, I believe interior design should be a collaborative and enjoyable process. I take time to understand my clients, how they live or how a space needs to work, and what they are drawn to – bringing those elements together into an interior that feels distinctly their own.
